Like most organisations we have been impacted by the Government Shutdown and are currently unable to deliver our 1-2-1 counselling support. We are putting in place a telephone/video counselling support and will be in touch with those already on our waiting list asking if you would like to receive support in this way. Please do continue to refer if you need support and we will be in touch, either for phone/video support in the immediate future, or in 1-2-1 sessions once we are able to reopen The Canberra Centre again.
TeenTalk - Listening Support and Counselling for Young People
Just as people’s bodies can become unwell, people’s minds can become unwell too.
Who’s it for?
The service is aimed at 10-25 year olds who are struggling to deal with their feelings.
Mental health problems affect about 1 in 10 children and young people. They include depression, anxiety, stress, loss and anger, and are often a direct response to what is happening in our lives.
By improving our mental health, we are better able to make improvements in all aspects of our lives. We become better able to deal with stress and difficult times, are able to learn better, enjoy friendships and are better able to take on responsibilities and achieve goals.
What can you expect?
Sessions take place in The Canberra Centre on Spa Road in Melksham on Thursday afternoons. You will meet your counsellor in a comfortable and private room for an hour’s session each week. The total number of sessions you attend will depend on your circumstances.
You will be offered the opportunity for an initial meeting with a counsellor to find out more about the service and whether it would be of benefit to you.

What does it cost?
Nothing! Young Melksham is a charity based in the heart of Melksham and are committed to making our service accessible to all young people in the Melksham Community Area. We are entirely funded as an organisation by dontations and grant funding, but strongly beleive that cost should not be a barrier to accessing services.
If you would like to support the delivery of our free-to-access counselling services for young people you can make a donation here.
